'Feel the Love' - Rudimental featuring John Newman

I know very little about Rudimental or the vocalist John Newman but I liked their song Feel The Love as soon as I heard it today while looking through Youtube for new music videos. Sometimes it's good knowing nothing about a singer or a band. It's that first impression impact of hearing new music without been aware of their previous music releases. It brings up back to hearing a song on the radio where you missed the DJ's intro and you just listen to the song, you are the only judge in that moment. Nowadays when that happens it is always interesting looking up their own or record label's website to discover more about them.

There is something really special and uplifting about Feel the Love by Rudimental featuring John Newman. It is released on May 26th in Ireland and on the 28th in the UK.

Pop 2012: 'Eyes Wide Open' - Gotye

Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye featuring Kimbra is one of the biggest worldwide hits in 2012. It is taken from his third album Making Mirrors. It was not the first single release from that album. That first release was Eyes Wide Open and it is being re-released on June 2nd in Ireland and the on 4th in the UK as the follow up single to Somebody That I Used To Know. Eyes Wide Open only got to number 55 in the Australian charts in 2011 so it will be interesting to see how it does the second time around in Ireland, the UK and other countries.

Pop 2012: When She Was Mine - Lawson

Here we go again; boys with guitars but this is what the worldwide singles charts like now. Lawson release their debut single When She Was Mine on May 25th. Andy Brown their lead singer looks like Josh Groban singing with Busted after going shopping with The Wanted. Curls are in!

They have supported Will Young and The Wanted to date and will also play support to Westlife when they sing their final concerts in Croke Park this summer in Dublin.

Here's their new video for When She Was Mine.

Pop 2012: 30 Days - The Saturdays

One of the best pop concerts I went to in 2011 was The Saturdays at Dublin's 02 music venue last December. Their last album All Fired Up contained one of their greatest singles; that is Notorious.  One song that should have been a single was Faster. Instead they are releasing a brand new single on May 13th.

Here it is --- 30 Days.

Perfect World - Gossip

One aspect of following a lot of pop blogs and websites is that when I see a song that I like I often decide not to post it on my own blog as it has been posted so  many times already elsewhere but as I like my blog being a sort of jukebox or music diary of all the songs that I like at any given time I'm going to post them anyway.

Here's a song that seems to have been around for months now but it's official UK single release is today.

From their new album A Joyful Noise here's Gossip and Perfect World.

Where Have You Been - Rihanna

Rihanna sang three songs from her latest album Talk That Talk on Saturday Night Live this weekend. One was a mix of two songs Birthday Cake and Talk That Talk. The other song she performed was Where Have You Been which charted at number 21 in the UK singles chart this week and is heading for the top ten on next weekend's chart. It is currently at number 32 in the Irish singles chart.
We Found Love is one of the best pop songs of this decade but the problem with releasing an album's best song first is that every release since has been compared to it. Where Have You Been is a return to the more straightforward pop that she was best at when she released her Good Girl Gone Bad album.

Her Saturday Night Live performance of Where Have You Been can be viewed here.

Here's the new official video.
